Ai is written with the kanji for indigo (藍) and Enma is written with the kanji for devil/demon (閻魔). Her original family name is unknown. Biography

There is a popular rumour going around…about a website you can access only at midnight. A website where you can type in the name of someone who has wronged you, and the Jigoku-Shoujo will ferry them straight to hell…for a price.Ai is a very quiet and stoic girl who rarely, if ever, displays what she is really feeling. Appearing to have a cold personality, she only speaks when there is something important to say, or for the occasional little quip. There is an air of maturity about her that is unnatural in girls her (apparent) age, but despite this there is also a locked storage of childhood wonder and innocence that leaks every so often.Being a private person, it is difficult to deduct Ai’s intentions or thoughts, even if one is a part of her close-knit circle of friends. Naturally emotional, Ai has had to put her feelings behind a mask in order to properly go about her duties, lest they interfere with a job; every once in a while, you can see a small crack in the mask, usually when interacting with a client or victim she sympathizes with.She enjoys reading, origami, poetry, glass marbles, and instruments.Despite being quite knowledgeable in matters of Hell, Ai knows little about foreign concepts and ideas of the place. What she does know is from plays, popular media, and art.Ai is also the Jigoku-Shoujo, someone with the power to send anyone you have a vengeance against straight to hell, but only if you’re willing to go to hell as well (after you die, of course). She only fell into this job after extracting her own vengeance against her village, over four hundred years ago. After retribution, she was punished by the Lord of Hell himself to carry out the grudges of other human beings lest her loved ones wander around in darkness for all eternity.After centuries of seeing so many grievances, she has had to close the door to her heart in order to both do her job as Hell Girl objectively, and not be broken by humanity’s constant barrage of hate—but she still feels deep inside.She can often be seen with one of her many companions (of which I will roleplay as in threads as needed, rather than lend the roles out to NPCS.)

Appearance

Ai is very petite and slender with a tube shaped body. Her black hair reaches her lower back and is cut neatly in a ‘hime’ style. Her eyes are large and are coloured a deep red, not unlike blood; they are striking, and often make people nervous or uneasy. Eyelashes are long, and her eyebrows are trimmed neatly. Lips are small, the color of a light peach pink, going well with her unearthly pale, glowing complexion. Her round, cute little garlic nose ties everything in quite nicely on her small, youthful face. Needless to say, Ai is fair.Elegant and timeless as a swan or a porcelain doll, Ai carries herself with the regality of an old queen. Her posture is usually impeccable, slightly slouching only when comfortable in the company of her friends. When speaking to a client, she does not break eye contact, which many find incredibly nerve wracking. Her mannerisms are minimal to the point where she does nothing with her hands or body unless she is bored; in this case, you will see Ai folding origami, playing games with string, or other childlike activities to pass the time.As for clothing, her default is a black sailor-fuku, not unlike the typical winter middle school uniform for girls. Occasionally she will wear other disguises for fun or for the sake of an investigation. When extracting a vengeance, she will appear with an elegant furisode baring patterns of flowers or paper fans and temaris. She always wears a black beaded bracelet with two bells on her right wrist.While it's pretty much impossible to spot her unearthly glow on a human, a good skin ref is the Pantone swatch shown under her photo here.Her animated playby is herself, naturally, and any IRL ones will probably be from the live action show and/or cosplays.

Abilities

Teleportation
Your basic ghost-girl vanishing/reappearing act. Doesn't involve any fancy glitter or mechanics, she can just leave and appear in the blink of an eye to any distance. Oddly enough, the exception to this rule is when she is to extract a vengeance, in which case she must either walk or ride in her flaming carriage to the mortal world.Invisibility
Although "invisibility" is technically right, Ai does not bend the light around her in any way. Instead, she is able to go unnoticed and undetected by people and cameras if she wishes. When she wants to make her presence known, she does so, resulting in a RINGU like atmosphere.Infiltration
Ai and her companions can infiltrate any social circle, company, or organization. In other words, make it look like they were a part of a class roster, neighbourhood, or payroll, as well as having people "remember" or believe that they have always been there. They can also use this power to get hired in places, despite not having any human/legal paperwork.Memory Manipulation
Aside from the above, Ai and her companions can wipe the memory of themselves from others, permanently or temporarily. So someone who has seen or met either of them (in disguise or not), may not recognise them if they are on a separate case or spying on the first person in question.Fire/Energy Balls
A rarely used power on Ai's behalf. In fact, these blasts have only been used when she's completely furious. They are exceptionally powerful, and are not to be taken lightly. The flames/energy shot from her hands are cold, but when they start burning, it's almost impossible to put them out.Grudges
It has been shown that Ai, in fact, can see and show others the future and past of a grudge/someone who will contact her. It's unknown whether she was merely predicting what would happen, however, rather than what she was showing be the 100% unchangeable future.Sensory Manipulation
A necessary part of the job, as before Ai and her friends send someone to hell, they torment them with illusions of their sins and wrongdoings. The illusions encompass sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell.The limits to these abilities are that she is not particularly allowed to use them outside a case. Sometimes she will for her own amusement or benefit or curiosity, but those are special occasions.
